Storm won their opening Regional League game 49-37 away at Titans.
The 2018/19 South West Regional League 3 season got underway with Storm facing two tough away games in the first two weeks.
The opening day away trip to North Devon proved fruitful though as the Cornish side took all the points with a final quarter display that ultimately won them the game.
The visitors got off to a solid start leading 12-5 in the first quarter before Titans pulled themselves back into the game and cut Storm’s lead to 15-13 at the end of the period.
Head Coach David White made two mid court changes with Bethany Fenn replacing Niamh Symons at Wing Defence and Bryher Croker replacing Fern Noott at Wing Attack.
The home side took the initiative and pulled into the lead as Storm started the second quarter slowly but the changes soon bedded in and Storm went on to take another tight period 12-11.
Noott came back on at Wing Attack as Storm took a low scoring quarter 8-6 to lead 35-30 going into the last period.
Symons replaced Maia Adams at Goal Keeper with Adams moving to Wing Defence.
Again the home side started the quarter well but Storm soon out some goal runs together to stretch out the lead.
Croker replaced Noott at Wing Attack during the period as Storm went on to win 14-7 and take the game 49-37.
“It was a tough game which could have gone either way at half time,” said White. “We just edged it throughout though, narrowly won the first three quarters but then put in a great final 15 minutes and that gave us the momentum to go on and win the game.”
