Storm went down to a 65-42 defeat in their first home game of the Regional League season.
Storm went down to their third defeat of the new South West Regional League season when they lost their first home game to Taunton side, Vivary.
With the side continuing to be plagued by multiple injuries and unavailability there were two more players making their Senior Regional League debuts.
Rosie Glover, who joined the club this week to play in the Regional League, started at Centre while Storm Youth player, Jennifer Wilson, who’s been with the club through the Junior section, made her debut at Wing Defence in the second half.
A promising opening first quarter saw Storm lead until towards the end of the period. The visitors taking a 13-10 lead into the break.
They extended this by a further five goals in the second quarter that went end to end and eventually finished 19-14.
Storm struggled to penetrate in the third period and notched just 7 goals as both sides made errors in attack.
Vivary picked their game up in the final quarter and pulled away to comfortably take the win and leave the home side still searching for that first win of the season.
“We started very well in the first quarter,” said Head Coach David White. “As the game went on, however, more and more unforced errors started to creep in and Vivary took advantage of our mistakes which ultimately proved very costly to us.
“There were lots of pleasing things as well though, it was nice to see Jennifer, who’s still only 14, make her Senior Regional League debut and Rosie, who came to us this week played very well also in her debut.
“We’ve clearly still got a lot of work to do but we’re in a rebuilding phase because players have gone to uni, some are unavailable and we’ve got an incredible amount of injuries at the moment so we’re being realistic this season and looking to develop people to be able to play at this level.”
Storm’s next Regional League game is away to Bodmin on Sunday 13th October at 3pm.
