The result gives Storm two wins in the opening two games of the season.

When the fixtures came out Storm knew two away games in the opening two weeks meant a tough start to the new campaign.

Not only were the journeys two of the club’s longest but the opposition were also likely to prove awkward.

“To come out of these two games with 10 points is a great achievement for us,” said Head Coach David White.

“We lost away to Tor Knights last season and there was no reason why this season should be an easier.”

And so it proved, with the scores locked at 10-10 after the first quarter and 24-24 at half time.

Storm fought back from a 19-14 deficit in the second quarter to level at the midway point but the decisive break came in Quarter Three.

With the scores at 32-32 Storm put together runs of 3 goals and 4 goals to edge the period 17-13.

A 3 goal run at the start of the final quarter saw Storm go further ahead before Knights hit back to bring the score back to just two goals.

The visitors held their nerve though and two more 4 goal runs gave the home side too much to do and with time running out Storm held on to win 55-48.

Captain Hannah Cox led the team to their second straight away win

“It was an absolute nail-biter,” said White. “We really needed to keep our heads in the final quarter. I’m delighted the girls did that and managed to control the situation to take the win.

“It was clearly a close, hard fought game throughout but I think we were just that little bit more clinical in the final 15 minutes and when we turned ball we took our chances to take it to goal.

“It was pleasing to see Wednesday night’s training coming to court but there’s still plenty more for us to work on for the forthcoming games.”
