Storm finish 4th in the Netball South West Pre-Season Tournament
With just under three weeks to go until the Regional League begins, clubs from Divisions 1, 2 and 3 met for a pre-season tournament at The Hub Community Sports Centre in Paignton.
The tournament is a chance for teams to have a run out against different opposition from around the region and is a key part of pre-season preparation.
Storm were in a group with Teignbridge Titans, Plymstock, Carol Anne and eventual winners, Exeter ‘A’.
Wins against Titans and Plymstock plus defeats by Carol Anne and Exeter put them second in the group.
Storm then faced Premier Romans and Exeter ‘B’ in the final round.
Storm took a squad of nine to the tournament, with five players unavailable.
Head Coach David White was pleased with how the squad played first time out. “If you look at what we achieved at the tournament I think we can be very happy at this stage of the pre-season,” he said.
“It’s the first time we’ve all played together as a squad and we rotated players at every break to try as many combinations as possible so it was a very pleasing outcome for us to finish fourth.”
The Regional League 3 (South) season gets underway on Sunday 1st October when Tor Knights visit Cornwall to face Storm in the opening game at Truro School.
“We’re all really looking forward to it and can’t wait to get the season started now,” said White. “We know we’ve got lots of work, we know it’s going to be hard but it’s going to be lots of fun too!”
