Cornwall Storm Matches News 2018/19 South West Regional League 3 (South)

Storm miss out on promotion to Regional 2 after defeat at the Playoffs.

Storm will play in Regional League 3 South next season after narrowly missing out on promotion to League 2.

Finishing Runners Up in the regular season, the side went to the end of season playoffs with the Runners Up from Regional 3 North, Challengers, and the 3rd from bottom team in Regional League 2, Imperial Royals.

Good Start!

Challengers and Royals opened the day and when the League 3 North side won the game, Royals knew they had to beat Storm to have any chance of staying in League 2.

Despite going behind in the first quarter Storm went on to win a tight game 42-39 to set up a winner takes all final match.

Challengers proved too strong for the Cornish side and ran out 45-31 winners to claim the final place in League 2.

For Storm that means another season in League 3 South but Head Coach David White says the squad can be proud of what they’ve achieved.

“It’s been a great season for the squad and club,” said White. “Unfortunately we couldn’t top it off today with promotion but I’m delighted with our development this season, we’ve brought young players into the squad and have a style of play we are all proud of.”

What’s Next?

It’s the close season now for a couple of months before Storm are back into training for the new challenges ahead.
