Storm Summer Bike Ride 2011 !
Story: 15th August, 2011 | Words: Storm NC | Photos: Andrew Trenoweth

Here's a chance to get yourself out in the fresh air with our annual Summer Bike Ride!

It takes place on Sunday, 21st August and this year we'll be cycling from Padstow along the river to Wadebridge and on through the woodland past the Camel Valley Vineyard to Dunmere.

We'll be stopping for a picnic lunch and some liquid refreshment at The Borough Arms at Dunmere before heading back to Padstow.

The route is flat and is approximately 11 miles each way.

It's easy going as it's on a gradient designed for steam trains and engineered in the century before last. It's also a beautiful route through the woodland as anyone who went last year will no doubt tell you.

This year we're cycling from Padstow to Dunmere stopping for a picnic at The Borough Arms

The surface is generally a mixture of chippings and coarse sand giving a firm base which is suitable for every level of cyclist so there's no excuses!

For those of you who haven't got a bike, or are unable to transport your bikes, there's cycle hire right at the start of the trail in Padstow.

Visit Padstow Cycle Hire to check prices and how to book your bike for the day.

There's also parking right at the start of the trail in Padstow too.

It will take approximately 2 hours 15 minutes each way and we'll be going at a gentle pace!

We'll be leaving Padstow at 10.30 in the morning and after a relaxed ride to Dunmere should be lunching around 12.45pm.

Please remember to bring your own picnic!

We're planning on leaving Dunmere at 1.30pm and should return to Padstow, after a easy ride back, at around 3.45pm.

You don't need to book but if you want to let us know you're coming that might avoid us cycling off and leaving you behind!
