Storm 5th Birthday Party
Story: 6th July, 2010, 18:45 | Words: Storm NC | Photos: Andrew Trenoweth

Storm's 5th Birthday Party took place on Saturday, 3rd July 2010 at the Lowenac Hotel in Camborne.

The club, which was formed by David and Sadie White, has evolved over the first five years and now features a thriving Senior and Youth section.

Players, Coaches, Supporters, Friends and Family were in attendance to make the event extra special and it certainly was a superb night with everyone putting their posh frocks on to celebrate in style.

After a lovely meal, guests took a look back over some of the photos from the last five seasons and it was interesting to see how people had changed since that first year!

Sadie White was one the players at that first training session; "It's amazing to think where we started from and where we are now five years later," she said. "I can honestly say it was very emotional hearing everyone cheering and applauding when our achievements flashed up on the big screen."

Then it was time for the club's annual Awards Ceremony which included, Comedy Awards, Achievement Awards, a musical recap of the season, Andrew's Top 6 'Funny Photos' plus the Club's Player Awards.

Maggie Moore took the accolade of Coach's Player of the Year while Beth Thomas won Coach's Junior Player of the Year.

With the presentations over, or seemingly so, Beth walked forward to take the mic and proceeded to make a speech she'd written herself and memorised thanking the club's Head Coach, David White.

The emotion of the night got the better of her and David, plus a number of people in the audience, and it was a lovely moment.

"I thought what Beth did was tremendous," said David. "She not only writes a beautiful speech, but memorises it and then delivers it without notes in front of all of those people. I don't mind admitting I had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes as she was talking!"

The girls presented David with an engraved pocket watch and engraved paperweight.

"It's something I will cherish forever," he said. "This is a really special club which has been made so by a really special group of people."

Then it was time to party and once Maggie and Beth had cut the 5th Birthday Cake the girls hit the dancefloor!

Congratulations go out to all our Award Winners and a huge Thank You to everyone who attended and made the night extra memorable.
