Storm 1 celebrated their promotion to Cornwall Division 1 in style with a exciting attacking performance against St Just.

With promotion already guaranteed after St Agnes lost to St Austell last week, Storm were able to settle into the game and play some great netball.

Betsy Willey and Sadie White continued their successful partnership in the shooting circle with Amy Clews, Sharon Teague and Emma Heller in mid court and Maggie Moore and Lisa Budd in the defensive circle.

Storm started well and both Sadie White and Betsy Willey shot 100% in the first quarter as the home team took a 14-5 lead into the first quarter break.

Laura Clews came on at Wing Defence in the second quarter and Emma Heller replaced Lisa Budd at Goal Keeper as Storm extended their lead further.

Sadie White continued her 100% shooting stats as Storm won the quarter 16-2 to lead 30-7 at half time.

Storm continued to press in the third quarter and both Sadie White and Betsy Willey missed just one shot each in a 15-5 quarter win.

Storm took their foot off the gas in the final quarter but managed to win 10-6 to take the game 55-18.

Head Coach David White was full of praise for the performance; "I thought this was one of the best attacking displays we've put together for a few games and our shooting was exceptional from both Sadie and Betsy.

"In fact Sadie only missed two all night giving her stats of 94% which is a tremendous effort on her part.

"Amy had a good game tonight as well and there were some great feeds into the circle that our shooters gathered superbly.

"Defensively we were strong again and the the four girls who rotated in the positions soon got the drop on their circle partnership."

As a thank you to everyone who's come to support the club this season, Storm gave away free coffee and biscuits to supporters at the game and secretary Sadie White felt it all added to the atmosphere; "As a player it's great to go on court with a noisy crowd behind you and we just wanted to say thank you to everyone who's given up their time to come and watch us this season, we really appreciate it."

The club would like to thank Bev Bradley who, along with Michaela and Stacey, made sure everyone was served with their coffee and biscuits.

Plus a thank you must go to Amy Clews who made flapjacks that one supporter declared as 'the best I've ever tasted'!

So, after sitting second from bottom before Christmas Storm gradually climbed the table and remained unbeaten in 2010 to gain promotion to Cornwall Division 1 at the first attempt.

White is looking forward to the challenge but is under no illusions how tough it's going to be; "If you look at the last few seasons, with exception of Hayle who've been there before, all the teams that have gone up from Division 2 have come straight back down again so we know it's going to be tough just to remain in the top division.

"We're going to have six weeks off training now, although we'll still be doing club events, then in June we're back down on the beach and preparations will begin for next season.

"We've already been boosted by Lottie Richardson coming to play for us next season. She's enjoyed training with the girls in the last couple of weeks and will make her first appearance for us in the Summer League. Who knows what else may happen in the summer!"

With the season now finished the Storm players take a deserved break before resuming beach training in June and playing in the Summer League later in the year.
