A strong second and third quarter sealed this tight match for Storm after a tense opening 15 minutes.
Back to full strength with Emma Heller, Amy Clews, Laura Clews and Sharon Teague all returning to the squad, Storm took an early lead but found themselves 7-5 down approaching the quarter break.

A couple of quick goals though and the scores were level at 7-7 after the first period.
Storm kept the same line up and soon settled down at the start of the next quarter.
With Sadie White and Betsy Willey finding their form under the posts and Amy Clews and Laura Clews feeding the circle accurately, the home side powered through centre court to take a 15-8 quarter win and lead 22-15 at half time.
Emma Heller rested for the third period as Laura Clews switched from Centre to Wing Defence and Sharon Teague came on at Centre.
St Austell then brought on their first team Regional shooter, Emily Yates who's returning from injury, but Storm continued to pressure the visitors and, with some excellent defensive work in the circle from Maggie Moore and Lisa Budd, won the quarter 10-7 and extended their lead to ten goals going into the final period.
Emma Heller came on for Lisa Budd in the last period as the visitors took a tense final quarter 10-9 but it didn't matter as the win went to Storm 41-32.
Head Coach David White was delighted with the way the team played; "I think as a unit that was probably the best we've played all season. I thought we were very disciplined in what we did and everyone stuck to the game plan perfectly.
"Defensively I thought we were very good all through court plus in and around the circle Lisa, Maggie, Emma and Laura worked extremely hard to break down their attack and give us more ball."
The win means Storm now mathematically can't be relegated which was one of the team's targets at the start of the season.
"We looked at the league line up before the season started and we agreed we'd do very well to remain in the Division which is what we've achieved now we need to go on and build from here," commented White.
Storm now face second placed St Agnes at home on Friday, 26th March at 8.30pm. |
