Storm 1 made it a perfect evening on a night of fundraising for Shelterbox with an emphatic win over local rivals Connect.
Starting with a slightly changed team Sharon Teague captained the side at centre with Emma Heller moving back to Goal Keeper and Laura Clews starting at Wing Defence.
Storm got off to a powerful start and set about avenging a 6 point defeat from earlier in the season winning the first quarter 14-6.
The visitors hit back in the second period before Storm pulled back to lose the quarter 12-10 but still hold a six goal lead at half time.
Head Coach David White made some slight adjustments at half time with Emma Heller moving to Wing Defence, Laura Clews to centre and Lisa Budd coming on at Goal Keeper.
They had an immediate impact as Storm powered to an 18-11 quarter win, stretching their lead to 43-30 going into the last fifteen minutes.
In front a very vocal crowd, who were helping Storm raise money to buy a Shelterbox for the earthquake relief in Haiti, Storm took the final period 14-12 and the match 57-42.
"We set ourselves up for this win with a fantastic start," said White. "We had a slight wobble in the second quarter and lost focus for a few minutes but got ourselves back into it and kept control of the game in the second half."

"We worked on a few things on Monday night and the players were pleased that it all came together in the match."
Storm 1 have now won their last two games and continue to move up the table. "It's starting to come together now and we're playing with some confidence which is good to watch."
A special mention must go to everyone who came along to support the club in the fundraising efforts for Shelterbox. Shooter and Club Secretary, Sadie White, was delighted with the turnout; "It was terrific to see so many people at the game and the atmosphere was wonderful, everyone was so noisy and that really helped the players!"
There'll be a special story on the night's fundraising shortly but the headline is that the wonderful efforts of Becky Campbell, who organised the cake bake along with all the other players and parents who cooked, has raised £135 towards the clubs' total of £490 to buy a Shelterbox. |
