Storm 3 got their first win of the season after beating bottom club St Agnes 4 at Truro Leisure Centre.
Storm started with their youngsters Rebecca Hocking and Evie-Mai Hagger in attack along with Beth Andrew, who scored 18 of the team's 23 goals.
The first quarter was tight with St Agnes taking a 2-0 lead and it was seven minutes before Storm registered their first goal.
From then on though Storm got back into the game to lead 7-5 after the first quarter.
Hocking and Hagger were rested after the first quarter with Lisa Heller and Lauren Murden coming on in their place.
Storm won the next two quarters to lead 19-12 at the final break and even though the home side won the last 6-4 Storm held on to get their first win of the season.
Storm Coach David White was pleased with the result, "I think overall we deserved to win and I was happy with most of our play. I felt sometimes we gave the ball away unnecessarily but in general we did pretty well coming through court.
"Beth did well in the circle both at GA and GS, her movement was great and she kept her nerve to score goals at important times for us.
"Holly had a very good game and it was nice to give Lauren three quarters. She's only just started playing in the league and she's loving it!!" |
