Storm 1 got a second consecutive league win for the first time this season after a good performance at Penryn College against Predators 2.

Starting with a slightly changed line up from the weekend's cup semi final, Storm welcomed back Laura and Amy Clews who were both unable to play in that game because of competition rules.

Storm got off to a tremendous start and forged a 7-0 lead before Predators registered their first goal.

Betsy Willey and Sadie White both shot 8 out of 9 as Storm won the first quarter 16-4.

The second was much the same although Storm conceded much less turnover ball as they stretched their lead even further, winning the quarter 17-4 and the half 33-8.

Storm Head Coach David White was delighted with the first half: "It was a terrific first half for us although we felt we were getting in each other's way a little driving through midcourt. I also wanted the girls to look at how many needless turnovers we were giving away and we certainly tightened that up in the second period."

Captain Sharon Teague came on at half time as Wing Defence Emma Heller rested for a quarter.

Storm moved further ahead to lead 48-15 at three quarter time.

Maggie Moore came off with a slight muscle pull so Emma Heller went back on at Goal Defence for the last fifteen minutes as Storm powered to a 20-7 final quarter score to take the game 68-22 and move to fifth in the table.

"We seem to have been hanging around in second from bottom for months," said White. "It's nice to be up to mid table now we're starting to catch up our games in hand."

"This was a pretty controlled performance, we fed the circle well and our shooters certainly gave us lots of movement in there."

"We identified a few things we want to work on but bearing in mind this is only the second game this new look team has played together it's starting to come together reasonably well."

Storm 1 next face a return match at home to Connect 2 on Wednesday 3rd February and it's hoped the club will be raising some money for Shelterbox with some players and parents baking cakes and making healthy sandwiches to sell along with tea and coffee.

Shooting Stats
Betsy Willey 38/49 (78%)
