Storm 2 lost this third division game after a disappointing second quarter that saw the home side pull out a nine goal lead.

Without regular centre Charlotte Jackson, Saira O'Dwyer started in the centre with Olivia Ballard moving to Wing Attack, Rachael Cosier at Wing Defence and junior player Rebecca Hocking, who's moved up to the Seniors permanently, starting at Goal Attack.

The first quarter started well as Storm pulled out an 8-5 lead but the period finished level at 8-8 after Newquay hit back.

Then a disappointing second quarter as the home team won 13-4 to lead by nine at half time.

"Unfortunately we gave their Goal Attack far too much space in that quarter and she shot 11 out of 12 to leave us with too much to make up," said Head Coach David White.

Shannon Russell, who's still recovering from a wrist injury, replaced Rebecca Hocking at Goal Attack as Storm held Newquay 7-6 in the third quarter.

The home team took the game after a strong 10-5 finish.

"The girls are a little disappointed more in their performance than the result I think," said White. "Newquay are a good team though and they're tall and strong in defence with an accurate Goal Attack."
