Storm 1 continued their winning form to make it three wins out of three in the league since the New Year with a 46-36 victory over second placed Newquay.
With Maggie Moore working late, Storm started with a slightly changed circle of Lisa Budd at Goal Keeper and Emma Heller at Goal Defence.
The home side started stronger though and surged to a 10-5 lead but Storm hit back with the next four goals to trail 10-9 at the quarter break.

Moore replaced Heller for the second period as Storm looked to build on the momentum they had from the end of the first quarter.
With Betsy Willey and Sadie White in fine form under the posts, Storm took the quarter 12-8 to lead 21-18 at half time.
Heller came back on to replace Budd at Goal Keeper as Storm extended their lead to 33-25 at three quarter time.
Storm knew it was just a case of going goal for goal in the final period to secure what would be a hard fought win but eventually ran out 13-11 quarter winners to take the game by 10 goals.
The win moves Storm to third in the table just behind Newquay with two games in hand and Coach David White was pleased with the night's work; "We had to dig in and battle for this win and the girls showed some real spirit to come away with the five points."
"Newquay are much better than when we played them in the opening game of the season and we had a real fight on our hands especially going five goals down so early but our shooting was excellent with Sadie at 85% and Betsy at 82%."
Storm 1 are next in action in the return game at home to Liskeard Tigers on Wednesday, 24th February which is the night the clubs' Shelterbox fundraising concludes. |
