Macmillan Fundraising Donation

Storm Juniors Present Macmillan with a cheque

Storm has handed over £500 to Macmillan Cancer Support as part of the club’s ongoing fundraising.

Macmillan Cancer Support is Storm’s official charity partner and the club’s members continue to raise funds every season.

The latest donation was for £500 and comes after various fundraising events.

One of those is the club’s popular annual Cake Bake.

Macmillan Cancer Support is currently raising funds for a brand new Cancer Support Centre at Treliske called The Cove and the club is delighted and honoured to be featured on The Cove’s special glass wall of supporters.

Emma Wright, Fundraising Officer for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly was in attendance to collect the cheque. “A huge thanks to everyone at Carn Brea Storm for donating another £500 to The Cove Macmillan Support Centre appeal,” she said.

“Storm have been great supporters of Macmillan now for a number of years, and we are delighted that this partnership continues into the new netball season. Thanks to everyone who has donated, baked a cake, bought a raffle ticket or helped out in any way with the fundraising. You have all helped us to build The Cove, which we hope will open in October this year.”

Over the years Storm has supported various charities including the Phoenix Appeal, Children’s Hospice South West, The Sunrise Appeal and Shelterbox. Storm Secretary, Sadie White, said it was important for the club to support local charities; “We have always tried to not only fundraise for the club but also to make sure we do our bit for our charity partner as well. We’re proud to continue our partnership with Macmillan and thrilled to know that in a small way our fundraising has helped with the brilliant new centre in Truro.”
