Information for players interested in joining Storm 2009/10Storm Netball Club

Useful downloads & links

Storm welcomes players of all abilities to the club. All we ask is that you are dedicated and enthusiastic about playing the game!

In fact, you don't even need to play in our league teams to train with us, you are more than welcome to join and just come along, enjoy playing the game and be part of friendly, sociable club.

For more serious players however there are our three league teams to aim for. Members of all three teams must be commited to achieving their best and striving to do their best for the team. First team players must be especially dedicated as extra team training sessions take place throughout the season separate to the main evenings.

Younger players are catered for in our Junior section of the club. Again players of all abilities are more than welcome to train with us whether you've been playing netball at school or not. Junior training is for young players aged 8-14 (school years 4-9). Year 10's & 11's can train with our Seniors.

All our training sessions, Senior and Junior, are safe, enjoyable, intense at times but also sociable and fun!

The club always has, at every session and match, two qualified Coaches, qualified First Aid personnel plus Duty of Care Officers.

But I don't want to play I just love netball, can I still be involved?

Of course, the club is always grateful for volunteers who would like to help out in any way. Our volunteers help with things like being the official match scorer, keeping the scoreboard up to date during matches, ensuring our equipment and training balls are looked after and safe during games, looking after the girls water bottles that type of thing. You could even become one of the club's Duty of Care Officers as there's no limit to the amount we can have.

If you'd like to become a volunteer just get in touch via our contact page.

A brief history of Storm

Storm Netball Club was formed in 2005 by David and Sadie White. The club began training on July 6th 2005 at Redruth School. From an initial attendance of nine players the club grew to form two teams to enter the Cornwall League.

After another double promotion last season both our first team and second team will be playing in new divisions in 2009/2010. The firsts have moved up to the 2nd Division while the seconds are now in Division 3.

Our Under 14 team in 2008/2009 won the title of Cornwall Netball's Most Improved Junior Team after finishing 3rd in the Under 14 League. The previous season they finished Runners Up in the Under 12 section and won Most Sporting Team.

What's the significance of your club crest?

Our club crest features the famous Lamb and Flag that was used in Cornish Tin Mining and especially around the Redruth area where we're based. Every tin ingot was stamped with a Lamb and Flag image, designed by Henry Davies in 1715.

Due to the deeply religious symbolism of the image, the Lamb and Flag had been adopted by tin smelting houses and became symbolic of the purity of their product.

Ours has been adapted slightly to show the Cornish flag of St Piran. Just thought you might like to know!
