Storm were without three regular defenders with Bianca Lincoln and Holly Hoskins unavailable while Kerry Hawkins is out for a month with an injured ankle.
The re-shuffled defence performed well though and kept Steelers down to 6 in the first quarter while Shannon Russell and Emma Vardy put on 16 at the other end.
Steelers came back to take the second quarter 9-6 meaning Storm led 22-15 at half time.
"I was a little disappointed with our second quarter performance," said Storm Coach David White, "Especially after such a promising opening."
"We made some changes at half time in attack and they worked which was pleasing."
Storm took the third quarter 14-9 and the fourth 11-4 to win the match and move third in the table.
"It's nice to see the girls moving the ball around so well these days, they're actually playing with a bit of confidence."
"My only concern was that Beth Andrew tweaked her back in the first half which is why she came off at half time although she should be fit for our visit to Camborne Park."
"Lauren Edwards did well at Wing Defence when she came on and it was nice to be able to give another youngster a league debut as they'll be entering the Cornwall League next season."
Storm 2's next match is at Camborne Park on Tuesday, 26th February at 7.30pm. |
