Storm 2 lost their first game of the season after a hard game at home to Camborne Park.

Storm were forced into a change to the starting line up after first choice shooter Kerry Shears fractured a finger on her right hand.

Wing Attack Beth Andrew, who played so well when she came on against Bodmin last week, was unavailable so Storm Under 16 players Shannon Russell started at shooter and Charlotte Jackson made her debut on the wing.

Camborne Park made the better start and romped into a 6-2 lead but Storm fought back and won the first quarter 9-7.

Then a few errors started creeping into the play and the game was effectively lost for Storm in the next two quarters when Camborne Park won them both 7-4 and 10-5.

A spirited fight back in the final quarter wasn't quite enough to pull back a 6 goal deficit and despite winning the last 6-3 Storm lost the game 24-27 but did get close enough to take two bonus points.

"The girls were disappointed with the result because they felt they let themselves down," said Storm Coach David White.

"I would agree with that, I don't think we deserved to win because we made too many basic errors."

"Yes, we missed Kerry in the circle but there's no point in bleating about that because in Shannon we had a more than capable replacement as her 16 goals proved."

"No one player had a bad game it was just a few unforced errors at key moments that were punished. On another night perhaps we wouldn't have dropped the ball or it would have hit the rim and gone in instead of staying out."

" It was just one of those games. Both sides could have won it but tonight wasn't our night."

Storm 2 now face a tough away match at Connect 3 on Monday 5th November at 8.30pm.
